I also noticed my computer all of a sudden started to using between 40-60% of the RAM, without even having more than the internet brower up. So I went to the dell support driver page, and noticed those drivers are extremly old, and that might be the cause for it. I would very much like some help how to solve the issue for this, because it's been a few weeks now, and it's really making me a nerve wrack, since I've spent tons of hours, trying to solve this. Hopefully someone can help me with this. Sincerly Edvard. Hi, I've been having the same issue, for me issues started 2 windows updates ago, my computer would just shut down for no reason while playing graphics on my computer, after a blue crash i looked into what my problems was, and i found some of my drivers were out of date, including my BIOs and chipset, so i updated it all, saw on AMD theres a new driver for the radeon HD 6990M, so i tried to download it, but it wont, says the same error and doesnt work. So i went to dell.com/support for the drivers and there are only the very old ones there, by now i had changed my gfx back to the onboard HD gfx driver on my motherboard the one meant for desktop because the crashes got really bad, since i done this my gfx drivers have vanished from my control panel, and if i switch my gfx using the button on my keyboard my machine now locks up and doesnt unlock, so i uninstall my amd drivers and reinstall them, using the old ones on the dell.com/support site, and they dont install or uninstall properly, i get these error messages. If you mean the drivers then AMD drivers will never work with the Alienware M17x R3 laptop and yes very annoying as i have the same laptop! However you can install these updated graphics card drivers, ignore that they are for the alienware m17 r4 and for hd7970m. They work and device manager reports hd6000m series.
